play Last Time I Saw Mayafrom One For The Road - Cogton 008 - 1998
last time i saw maya it was labor day weekend. she come walking through the park where i was talking with some friends. i said "hey, where you going girl?" and she motioned straight ahead into the great unknown. she knew i was half crazy but she loved me anyway. an innocent in a world of thieves. that's a heavy price to pay. i dreamed she slept for forty nights and walked for forty days into the great unknown. i remember garbage blowin through the park. a local rembrandt gettin busted for an uncommissioned work of art. "it's a tattooed city with a twisted heart" said some philosopher, as he stumbled from an east side bar. hey, you know what i'm talking about we're all just trying to do our best. it's like you and me and everyone else...being put through some big test. except my sweet friend maya, she's gone on before the rest into the great unknown.
