carol woke up this morning one pillow on the bed
one toothbrush in the bathroom
where there should be two instead.
she's getting dressed for Monday
like every Monday that came before.
but nobody left the coffee on there's just one cup to pour.

drink another round, drink another round.

if you raise your glass to the ceiling,
you can raise it in my memory.

is the glass half full or empty?
is the liquid the only remedy?

scotty got lit like a rocket. should've gone on home instead.
when he finally finished falling found himself in the wrong bed.
now he's stuck in morning traffic
excuses spinning in his head.
gets home late that evening finds a note taped to the door and it read. dink another round ......
