Remembering...Bob Bodenhamer

Bob in the nerve center of the Laughing Horse Inn...imparting some important piece of knowledge to DonCon and his camera
Bob was a good one. He left behind his son, Mark and his daughter, Kate, and some new grandchildren. I didn't know that part of his family. But I knew parts of his Taos family and that included some amazing people who staffed and visited the Laughing Horse Inn, which he owned and operated. That's how I got to know Bob. I'm a regular at the inn. The staff at the time of Bob's passing was Kirsten, Morgane, William and Todd. Kirsten has been at Bob's side managing the inn for a long time.
Bob came to visit from Santa Rosa, California. When he came to Taos he stayed at the Laughing Horse Inn. He fell in love with both, bought the Inn and stayed. He loved the mountain and the mountain gave Bob it's blessing. Many believe this is a requisite to be able to make a life in Taos. Many try...not all succeed. The Laughing Horse has a long and fascinating history and Bob embraced it and maintained it as a serene retreat and sanctuary of those things. He never refused to help anyone in need. He strongly believed in doing the right thing. He was kind, gentle and funny with a dry, biting wit.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at Orlando's Restaurant, just up the road from the inn. A fitting farewell. Orlando and his family/staff all loved him. Bob thought it was the best authentically New Mexican cuisine to be found and he ate there every day. I ate there often enough with him to agree. Have a great time back home, Bob. You are loved.
