was a tv on the highway laying near the ditch.
and some local farmer's furry friends had gathered there to sit.
with some trash piled up beside 'em and the grass just newly mown
no motorist took notice of the seed that had been sown

was it post modernist sculpture? a heat induced mirage?
or an impolite deposit from somebody's cleaned garage?
human nature and technology held hands out in the sun

and made peace in louisiana on highway number one.
