Notes From the Road

3-1-12 Just When I Was Getting To Love Winter...

Living in Taos has actually made a winter lover out of me. The skiing has been glorious, the sun is bright, the sky is blue and the winds are at rest most of the season. But spring is making itself felt. I played another wonderful show with The Dons in Del Norte, Colorado recently and there was a wind storm on the way home that blew across a swath of the San Luis Valley and caused a total blackout on the highway. Not weather for the weak of heart.

With the spring comes change and I have a wonderful new bass player, Cliff Collins, in my trio who is allowing the music to move in cool new directions and I also have some wonderful new projects under construction with Jennifer Peterson and Alana Grier which have me pulling sideman duties on bass and electric guitar respectively. More about those soon. Big thanks to Martin Guitars, Taylor Guitars and also to Ellis Paul, John Kurgan and Holly Duane. Meanwhile I'm wishing everyone strength during times of duress and joy during times of ease and success. Or maybe it should be the other way around. We live in extraordinary times whichever way you slice it. Not always pleasant or encouraging, but extraordinary just the same. Peace and Love to All.
