12-17-05...Letter to Acting House Majority Leader Roy Blunt and GOP Leaders Regarding Political Stunts and Spin
With all due respect, it is an affront to intelligent taxpayers to see this kind of partisan behavior in Congress during difficult times like these. These last two votes regarding troop withdrawal in Iraq are a sham and everyone sees them for what they are. I am just amazed. We, the taxpayers and voters are Americans who are being consistently embarrassed by our representatives in Congress and by you, sir, and the folks in your administration over and over again while our taxes, civil liberties, security and service people are squandered by incompetent leaders who continuously promote partisan politics, special interests and policy making that goes against the will of the majority of the people in this country...ordinary people who are hungry for solutions to real problems here at home and abroad. As an independent voter I'm looking for problem solvers, leaders who truly are in touch with the common good. Those are the people I vote for. The behavior of this Republican Congress and presidential administration has caused me to rise up and speak out against Republicans for the first time. If this behavior continues I will vote against all Republican office holders and I will lobby for others to do the same. Forgive me for seeming negative but there are so many people I know like me who are becoming more and more frustrated with what you folks are doing with your precious time and our precious resources in Washington and elsewhere. Please take our concerns seriously. I otherwise wish you the best and hope you get things working so that you can fulfill the job you have gone to so much trouble to obtain, and enjoy some of the holidays with your loved ones. Thank you for listening. I am a concerned American.                                                                                                                        Sincerely, Don Conoscenti / Chicago IL 12-17-05
