ACOUSTIC PICKUPS and PREAMPS

With my acoustic instruments I have been through a truck load of pickups, preamps and EQ's in search of an honest sounding, dependable and portable rig...something that most of my acoustic instruments can run through most of the time and get a consistently great sound without a lot of cables and devices. I've settled on Fishman's Rare Earth Blend pickup system installed in the sound hole and Pick Up The World's Under the saddle or alternative pickup. David Enke is a mad scientist and he's always inventing some cool pickup idea.
I have them all wired together at the jack so that I can pull a stereo signal using both systems or just run mono with the Fishman. I have an old Fishman Pocket Blender Preamp that will run mono or stereo and it sounds fantastic. This pickup configuration gives me the option to plug in and go on the fly without a preamp, but I typically use a Pick Up The World Stereo Power Module at the end pin which allows me to blend the signals to mono and then I run it that through a Fishman Preamp and send it to the board using the Fishman as a direct box.
The Fishman gear always sounds fantastic and never let's me down in a pinch. This set up is incredibly compact and once I got all the pickups installed I was able to tour with four acoustic instruments on stage using just one cable, one preamp, one tuner and one channel in the sound system with the same EQ setting for everything...typically run flat. I just mute, switch instruments, plug in and play. I have endorsements with both companies and I'm a happy camper.
