Taos Pueblo
This place and these people have been around a long time and have coninued to maintain their culture and vibrancy under the adverse conditions all occupied people suffer. The Pueblo boasts some of the greatest artisans, dancers and musicians I've seen including Benito Concha and Sonny Spruce, amongst many others.
Mike Mckearn
Mike McKearn...the Big Mac, my P. We have a lot of history, have written a lot of songs and logged a lot of miles together. We met at Sloppy Joe's in Key West when I was living there and playing in Small Cognito (the house band at the time). He was playing in Sleeper (the best band to come through at the time). I danced so hard to Sleeper one night I ended up on crutches for a week. True story. More to come (...but I'm keeping the waffle iron).
Ellis Paul
Ellis Paul is my partner in crime and a brilliant artist. Check out his wacky world. You'll see me there...I spend a lot of time in it with him. I love it there.
Susan Werner
If I fall short of total enlightenment this lifetime I want to come back as Susan Werner.
The Red Dirt Rangers
I've wanted to be in this band since the time I was living in Oklahoma City and saw an article about them by Mike Easterling in the Oklahome Gazzette. They have become some of my best friends. Love these boys.
Eric Taylor
I think Eric is a National Treasure and should be given a million dollar grant for his artistic achievements...then he should cut me a check for 10%. If I can write as well as him before I die I'll be a happy ghost...and then I'll haunt him for all the nasty stuff he wrote about me on the wall behind the Eddie's Attic sound board.
Christopher Williams
Badass musical talent and dear friend. I love playing with this guy and really appreciate his hair cut.
Bill Miller
Amazing. A great man, a visionary Native American artist and a musical badass
Don Richmond & Howling Dog Studio
My dear Brother from the San Luis Valley. He recorded "The Other Side"
Dede Vogt / Cowboy Envy
Dede "Too Short" Vogt is one of my all time heroes and dearest friends. I've had the pleasure and honor of recording two of my albums in her studio while we were both living in Atlanta. This is one of the tightest bands I've ever heard.
Rakalam Bob Moses
Jazz legend. Inspiration. Brilliant Artist. Spirit Brother. I am lucky to know him and luckier still to have played some music with him.
Jessie Holladay
Close friend. Songwriting-guitar playing genius. Also respectfully known as The Holly Llama. Hear her and Stephanie Gutz's improvised conversation on Vigilante Man on my Paradox of Grace CD. Much more interesting to hear the Holly Llama speak "Milari " than to hear ANOTHER guitar solo. Alibigot...Cho!
Arlo Guthrie
Arlo is one of the greatest people I know...and a badass guitar player. His son Abe, who plays keyboard with him and has his own projects, is also one of the finest. The whole family is awesome.
Jimmy Stadler
Jimmy is a Taos treasure. Brilliant musician, sweet guy and amazing performer.
Michael Hearne
Michael and his South By Southwest cohorts are an icon in northern New Mexico and since living in Taos I get to see why first hand. He's a sweet cat with a great sound playing music with a buch of great musicians...that's about as good as it needs to be.
Chipper Thompson
Chipper is one cool dude and one of the coolest of the Taos music mafia.
Jeri Red Corn
Reknowned Caddo Potter who has almost singlehandedly revived the ancient pottery art of her ancestors of the Caddo Nation Also a great friend.
Charles Red Corn
A great man, writer, friend and leader in the Osage Nation. His book 'A Pipe For February' is a brilliant novel based on true events. Highly Recommended! click here to read his bio from the Osage Nation web site. This article in Indian Country Today also gives a bit of insight into who Charles is. Click here to read.
David Wilcox
David is a dear friend and in many ways mentored me by proximity. when he tried to do his first band it was David Cohen on percussion and me on just about everything else. The trio wasn't destined to last but the memories, friendship and influences certainly have.
